Terra Nova Fixtures Round Up


This week has been a very exciting one for fixtures at Terra Nova. Starting off on Sunday, some of our pupils headed to Shrewsbury School for an event filled day. Our girls hockey team took part in the Hockey Club, whilst our boys Under 11 football team participated in Shrewsbury’s Football Festival.


Our U11 boys football team played a total of 6 matches, each one a brilliant effort from our team. Player Of The Match was Oliver T for fantastic versatility and great decision making under pressure. Our U13 football team played four matches, with a stunning victory in half of them. The Player Of The Match was Charlie C, for outstanding discipline and an excellent defensive display.


The girls U11 hockey team played a total of 3 matches, winning each of them, a brilliant outcome for our girls! Player Of The Match was Emma K, for showing excellent confidence, energy, versatility and working hard for her teammates.


On Tuesday it was our Under 9’s football fixtures day, our three teams all played against Altrincham Preparatory School. The Player Of The Match for the White Team was Alexander M, for disciplined defense effort. The Green Team's POTM was Paris N, for his tireless effort and working hard in both defence and attack. Lastly the Black Team's POTM was Ned B who displayed outstanding resilience. Ned never gave up and desperately fought to score an equalising goal for his team.


On Wednesday we sent teams to Yarlet, Repton and Birkenhead, as well as hosting Birkenhead School and St Anselm’s School at Terra Nova.


The Under 11’s boys’ football team attended the ISFA Regional Finals and went on an exceptional run of seven unbeaten matches, to narrowly finish in second to the host school Repton. The boys should be extremely proud of their efforts on the day, they were disciplined, hard working and scored some outstanding team goals. It was a fantastic team effort from the full squad with Vice Captain Theo H awarded our Player Of The Day. Mr Gerrard wrote “Theo set the tone for the team with tireless defensive work and bursts of outstanding one on one skill to constantly keep the opposition on the back foot.”


Meanwhile on the pitches of Terra Nova, our Player Of The Match for the Boys’ U11 football match against Birkenhead School was Billy B for his bravery and fantastic work ethic. Mrs Biggs told us “Billy performed really well, he was very brave, determined and showed good leadership.” In the second U11 match against Birkenhead School, POTM was Alfie J for outstanding positional discipline, fantastic effort and heroic last ditch tackling.


Our hockey teams also had a brilliant day full of matches, with every team displaying brilliant resistance and determination throughout the duration of their games.


The Player Of The Match in the U10A game against Yarlet School was Izzy A, for being open minded, listening to coaching points and being strong on the ball in attacking situations. Player of the match in the U11B against St Anselm’s School was Natasha G, she showed good determination, identified space effectively and displayed fantastic drive that helped lead her team to victory. In the U11A match against St Anselm’s School, the Player Of The Match was India L, as she showed fantastic discipline and adaptability, playing extremely effectively in multiple positions. Finally in the U13A match against St Anselm’s School, Our Player Of The Match was Camilla B-B who showed excellent resilience in a tough match. Camilla kept her composure even when under a lot of pressure from the opposition.
