The Shrewsbury DT Challenge brief this year was to design a prototype product that will make everyday life better. Our Year 7 and 8 pupils responded with a wide variety of ideas from heated clothing for the homeless to an exercise device for guinea pigs! 10 of our pupils were invited by Mr Kevin Lloyd to the celebration day at Shrewsbury School. During the day they investigated inclusive design, using various devices to experience different impairments before going into the studio to design solutions.
The day was rounded off with Lottie B from Year 8 being awarded the overall first prize for her design of a device that tells you when your plants need watering. The success didn’t end there as Camilla B-B’s jar opening device for those with grip difficulties was also awarded overall third place. Mrs Boyland is exceptionally proud of all of those that entered, and especially to see Lottie and Camilla succeeding! Thank you Shrewsbury School for such a wonderful and inspiring day.
