At the end of the summer term a number of our pupils took LAMDA examinations. Pupils were assessed in Communication, Verse and Prose, Acting, Reading for Performance and Public Speaking, ranging from entry level up to Grade 7. Mrs Anderson was delighted to receive the outstanding results over the Summer holidays. Impressively there were 16 Distinctions and 4 Merits with several pupils achieving over 90%. Our pupils put in huge amounts of work leading up to the exams and are well deserving of this excellent set of results.
We would like to give a special mention to our former Year 8 pupils; Hannah D, our previous Deputy Head Girl, who achieved a Distinction in Grade 7 Verse with 90% and Maya B who achieved a distinction in Grade 5 acting.
Speech and Drama helps with presentation skills, reading and confidence as well as teaching about acting and drama. Pupils also find the lessons enhance their English as they explore a wide range of texts from different periods and genres.
Mrs Anderson writes “Congratulations to all the children who have made me enormously proud once again! We enjoyed a presentation in today’s assembly, where Mr. Campbell presented the certificates. Gigi performed ‘The Crow and the Fox Song’ by Julia Donaldson and Thomas Nugent, ‘The Dog who Bit the Ball’ by Pam Ayres.”
