Wacky Assembly Wednesday was certainly a fun one today as Mr Stewart, in full Jabba the Hutt costume was joined by Mrs Westall and Mr Pearson. It was like Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway- except with teachers and on a Wednesday afternoon!
Mrs Westall told us how she has been feeling frustrated being at home and missing everyone at Terra Nova. She has been trying hard to improve her patience levels at home to make her feel less frustrated. One of the ways she has been doing this is by playing Dobble at home with the Westall Family. She even played a few games with us all virtually- well done to all who guessed correctly! Mr Stewart carried on the theme of turning negative feelings into positive ones and told us how little gestures can have a big impact on ourselves and others around us. We all know how important kindness is to us all at Terra Nova and Mr Stewart shared with us how Ethan and Alfie have come up with their own ideas to help others. Ethan is running 50 laps a day in his garden and donating his pocket money to a local care home, whilst Alfie has made care packages for an elderly relative. Great work boys- we are super proud of you both!
You may remember last week Mr Stewart introduced us to our new Terra Nova mascot, but he had no name!! Well this week he has finally got a name- thanks to Clara and Sebastian who suggested that we name him 'Captain Tom Terra Nova' after the fantastic Captain Tom, who they agree showcases all of our Terra Nova values. Thanks again to the Carpenter family who made our mascot and sent him in. Next up was Mr Pearson- with a very exciting competition. Mr Pearson reminded us all that he was due to run the London Marathon last weekend in aid of a charity that helps children with disabilities; Get Kids Going. Unfortunately, the marathon has been postponed, but that certainly hasn't stopped Mr Pearson and he has used his creativity to find another way to raise money for the charity. Mr Pearson is giving all of us at TN the chance to design his Summer haircut......and he is even allowing Mr Stewart to be his hairdresser. If you would like to be in with a chance of winning all you have to do is draw a weird and wacky design and ask your parents to make a contribution towards this very worthy cause through Mr Pearson's Virgin Money Giving page - https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/MatthewPearson13. Think designs and colours - the crazier the better! For every £5 donation, you will receive 1 raffle ticket and on Wednesday 20th May, there will be a live draw. Six raffle tickets will be picked out of the hat and if yours is selected, it will then be up to the public to decide, through our Facebook page. There will be no backing out for Mr Pearson- he will have to let Mr Stewart give him that very haircut. We can't wait! Let's all get donating and get creative!
As always we ended our assembly with house points- well done to all of you who have earned lots this week and an extra special well done to Dunham who were the winning house- you have Mr Stewart's permission to ask your parents for an extra treat! See you all next week for another Wacky Assembly Wednesday!! Stay safe and take Care.
