ALUMNI
At Terra Nova School we are immensely proud of our heritage, our history but most importantly, our past pupils. Our former pupils have achieved outstanding success in a range of diverse fields including Medicine, Law, Sport, Business and beyond. We teach our pupils that there is no limit to their ambitions and aspirations and our alumni are shining examples of this, acting as strong role models for our current pupils.
We are always looking to reconnect with old Terra Novians and expand this community. If you are or know of someone that has attended Terra Nova School in previous years, we would love to hear from you!
School Reunion (1983-1991)
It was an absolute pleasure to welcome over 150 members of our community back to Terra Nova School on Saturday 20th April. Many travelled from far and wide, which made for a thoroughly enjoyable and extraordinary event. It was an honour to learn so much about the legacy of our guests through their individual association with our wonderful school.
Watching attendees reunite with old friends and share stories from their TN days was a treat and it was so lovely to hear that the changes to Terra Nova over time were well-received and that our alumni felt that the traditions of old remain. Terra Nova really is a very special school and this was evident in the fondness by which it is remembered by alumni, parents, governors and staff alike.
Due to the success of the day, we have created an annual OTN Day, with next year's event scheduled for Saturday 26th April 2025. We have been contacted by several alumni with varying dates of attendance at Terra Nova, so we intend to make the event even bigger and hope that the weather is as kind to us.
We have been extremely grateful to those who have made donations to our playground fundraiser. For any one still wishing to donate, you can do so here.
As a school we have been touched by your kind, generous and enthusiastic support for Terra Nova. It was wonderful to reconnect with so many who hold TN in the same special regard that we do.
We hope to see you at OTN Day on Saturday 26th April 2025. If you are able to join us, please email alumni@tnschool.co.uk to confirm attendance.

THE WHEILDON-BROWN FAMILY
Thomas Wheildon-Brown was the second Headmaster of Terra Nova School, from 1928-1957.
During his tenure as Headmaster, the school relocated in 1939 due to World War II, from Birkdale, Southport to Jodrell Hall, Cheshire where it remains to this day.
He and his wife, Joan Brown had two children: Tim born in Sep 1925 (pictured top left) and Jenifer born in August 1930 (pictured bottom left). Tim was not in fact educated at Terra Nova School as his father didn’t believe in sending his son to the school he was Headmaster of, however his sister Jenifer did attend TN and went on to become a leading mathematician at Cambridge University.
Jenifer Haselgrove (nee Wheildon-Brown) was a British physicist and computer scientist. She is most noted for her formulation of ray tracing equations in a cold magneto-plasma, now widely known in the radio science community as Haselgrove’s Equations. Haselgrove developed her equations at Cambridge University in the 1950s.
Mr Tim Wheildon-Brown returned to the school, his former home, in 2009 for an Armistice Service .
Terra Nova shaped me into the person that I am today; It gave me the confidence to pursue my dreams and friends that I will cherish for life.
