That a child should be stretched and supported to achieve their full potential is at the heart of the school’s ethos. Each child must be recognised, treated and taught as an individual. The small class sizes facilitate this by enabling teachers to have an in depth knowledge of each child’s abilities; their strengths and their weaknesses, where they are capable of more and where they need support.
Demonstration and appreciation of the school values are woven into daily life at the school. Spiritually, the school’s values are based on the teachings of the Christian faith. The wellbeing of the Terra Nova pupils and the school’s community is at the heart of all that the school does.
Terra Nova School is committed to protection of children and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
During a child’s education at Terra Nova, the school is committed to:
- instilling a deep rooted appreciation of the school’s values. Good manners, respectful behaviour and kindliness to others is demanded in daily life.
- Equipping the child with a belief in their self, their ability and the responsibilities and knowledge of their role in a community that are in essence, life skills.
- Preparing the child for their secondary school whether that is a day or boarding school.
