At Terra Nova School we are immensly proud of our school community enriched by the various cultures from which our pupils originate.
There can be no substitute for actually engaging in contact with people who are different to us and our international pupils make a major contribution to the richness and diversity of school life at Terra Nova. We welcome applications from overseas full boarders from Year 3 upwards.
International pupils are supported by our boarding team, who have a wealth of experience in looking after boarders and understand how difficult it can be for children who are living away from home for the first time. Terra Nova dormitories are warm and friendly and our boarding community welcomes new pupils with open arms; friendships are quickly established and life-long international connections made. We understand the importance of our pupils keeping in touch with family and friends, whether they are in the UK or abroad and all boarders have access to phones and devices at designated times throughout the week.
Terra Nova has well established links with many of the UK’s top boarding schools and our pupils regularly progress to reputable senior schools, including Shrewsbury, Rugby, Eton and Repton.
Terra Nova is conveniently situated for major motorways, making it easily accessible by car from any part of the UK. Manchester Airport is only a 25 minute drive away and offers daily flights to most international destinations. Crewe train station is situated 20 minutes from school and runs frequently to London Euston with a 1 hour 30 minute travel time. Our staff are happy to collect families from the train station or airport, whether it be to come and visit us, or when pupils are arriving at school.
Pupils who board with us whilst their parents are based abroad must have a ‘guardian’ in the UK. Guardians must be English speaking and available to be contacted in the event of an emergency. Ideally this would be someone who is local to the school and might be a relative or a family friend of the pupil. Alternatively there are several accredited agencies that can source suitable guardians for families.
Terra Nova School is a Tier 4 Sponsor, registered with the UKVI. As a Tier 4 sponsor we can assign ‘Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS)’ to international students which enables them to obtain a Tier 4 visa.
The school will also take into account references supplied by the candidate’s school and by other individuals involved in coaching the candidate. Sports Scholars are expected to play a full part in the sporting life of the School during their time at Terra Nova.
