Families seeking to enrol their child at Terra Nova School will go through the following process:
NEW ENQUIRY / TOUR
An initial tour of the school, its facilities and the relevant classrooms, this first experience of the school will also enable prospective families to meet with teachers throughout the school as well as enjoying an informal chat with the Head.
Registration of the child is the next step. This involves completion of a registration form and making payment of the registration fee of £75.
A taster day is then organised, presenting the child with the opportunity to spend a day at Terra Nova with their cohort. During this day, the child will sit an assessment in English & Maths so that the school can understand their levels of attainment.
TEACHER COMMENT REPORT
The child/children’s current teacher is contacted, with permission of the parents, to obtain a confidential report on the child.
The two most recent school reports are requested from either parents or the child’s current school
Once completed, the file is reviewed and a decision is made whether to offer a place.
If a family do not wish to accept the offer of a place at Terra Nova School, the family will withdraw from the application process.
An offer is made by letter sent on behalf of the Head.
If the decision is made that a child will not be offered a place at Terra Nova School, the family will be notified that their application has been unsuccessful
Should the family decide to accept the offer of a place, a surety payment of £500 secures the child’s place. The surety payment is refunded at the end of a child’s last term at Terra Nova School, less any expenses incurred.
ACCEPTANCE OF OFFER
If the family accept the offer of a child’s place, a start date is determined, relevant paperwork completed and the child is enrolled at Terra Nova School.
