3 members of the Terra Nova debating team: Sol BF, Ed P and Henry C were super ambassadors for TN at MUNCH 17, a model united nations event hosted by Cheadle Hulme. The event takes place at schools around the world and the one hosted at Cheadle Hulme was attended by schools from around the country.

There was a buzz of excitement at CHS with secretaries (Year 7&8 students) passing messages to delegates¬†(Year 7-13 students). They discussed pertinent and sometimes controversial issues of Human Rights such as; ‘The issue of Combating Modern Slavery’; ‘The issue of Human Rights Violations in Police Detention Centres’.

The delegates discussed ‘The issue of Arranged Marriages for Young People’ and ‘The issue of Preventing Radicalisation Among Young People’.

The level of the debates and the passion from the young people was mindblowing. The purpose for Terra Nova’s pupils in attending was to observe a debate in advance of a debating competition our pupils will be participating in later in the term.
