A trip to watch Sale Sharks was the boarding activity last Friday and it proved to be a roaring success not least as the boarding spaces were fully booked! There was a buzz around school as the boarders wrapped up warm, ate supper at record speed and jumped onto the school minibus. The children were treated to a rugby match between Sale Sharks and Gloucester at the Sale Sharks ground. The score was a decisive 57-10 to Sale Sharks. Added to the excitement of watching a rugby match, our boarders were treated to some VIP treatment as Terra Nova School was announced over the tannoy and invited onto the pitch to not only meet the club mascots but also Sam Tuitupou, an ex-New Zealand All Blacks player! It was hard to tell whether this was more exciting for the children or for Terra Nova’s GAP students who are spending a year living at Terra Nova, supporting the school in a myriad of ways whilst playing rugby at Wilmslow Rugby club on training nights and at weekend matches. The children thoroughly enjoyed the event and came back chatting excitedly about tries scored by Denny Solomona, a “roly- poly try at the end”, some near “fistycuffs” between players as the tension mounted on the pitch and the food offering at the ground which was deemed ”good!’. This was definitely a trip the boarders hope will happen again!
