Team Terra Nova arrived to a glorious day at Shrewsbury School. In their 1st match, the boys showed early signs of great determination and teamwork beating Old Hall with a comfortable lead. Jack L impressed the referees early into the tournament and received the 1st Man Of Match nomination of the day.

Round 2 was disturbed unexpectedly as the heavens opened and everyone had to dart for shelter to keep our athletes warm and ready for action. Happily the team was undeterred and they went on to win a 2nd round against Shrewsbury High Prep School. In this match the stand out performance was from Luke D who received the referees MOM nomination for some clever passes and brave tackles.

In round 3 Terra Nova went head to head with Warwick Junior School, an opponent of old. This was undoubtedly team Terra Nova at their best, giving the most impressive team performance to date. Despite their valiant efforts, Warwick dived across the try line in the last minutes of the game to win 2-1.

In round 4, team TN faced Packwood Haugh. The score stayed level throughout the game, the Terra Nova boys then produced the try of the tournament to take them into the lead and thus win the game. A special mention must also go to Will T for his try saving tackle in the closing minutes of the game.

By round 5, 3 teams were in contention for winning the tournament and it was a very competitive afternoon of rugby. Our final game was against Prestfelde who were level on points with ourselves and Packwood. Some outstanding rugby was on display from both sides but neither team could hold a lead resulting in a 3-3 draw. It was a fantastic game to watch for the spectators.

As a result of round 5, team Terra Nova achieved 2nd place in the competition overall. This was a huge achievement and much credit is due to all of the 10 boys in the squad, they clearly tried their absolute best and showed some great teamwork and leadership skills. This was a delight to see and Mr Cain would like to publicly thank the boys for making it such an enjoyable afternoon.
