Despite snow, wind and freezing temperatures, Terra Nova pupils’ love of their reading books continues to be indomitable! The school’s pupils arrived this morning dressed as a plethora of different characters from their favourite books. Mrs Sarah Capewell, Terra Nova’s Head of English, led an inspiring assembly touching on the endless imaginative opportunities accessible through reading, the fact that readers are always learning and the fabulous number of words a child reads in a year if they read for just 20 minutes a night. During the assembly, Mrs Capewell invited a number of pupils to the front to read both poetry and prose on the subject of the joy of reading. The assembly finished with the following quote:

“A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies. The man who never reads lives only one.”
