This week Year 2 spent a day at Chester Zoo. We went in the hope of seeing a wide variety of rainforest animals as part of our ‘Please find a home for this bear’ topic and we were not disappointed. We saw sloths, capybaras, an okapi, brightly coloured tree frogs, capuchin monkeys and hornbills. We also spent part of the afternoon being guided round the zoo by two very knowledgeable zoo keepers. The highlight for us all was the spectacled bear, our fingers were crossed that Paddington (or Bernie as the zoo call him) would come out to say hello… and he did! What a thrill it was when Paddington / Bernie appeared! We all had a fabulous day in the sunshine and the children came back full of smiles and rainforest facts!
